ADI Part 1
ADI Part 1 is a theory test comprised of two parts; a multiple choice exam and a hazard perception test. You will need to pass both parts; if you fail one of the tests you will have to sit the whole test again.
The multiple choice test is made up of 100 questions over four bands. You need to score at least 80% (20/25) in each of the four bands and your overall score must be 85% or above (85/100).
The hazard perception examination is a computer based test in which you watch 14 video clips of a car driving in various traffic situations from the driver’s viewpoint. During each video clip at least 1 hazard will develop, this could be anything from a pedestrian crossing the road to a car pulling out in front of you. There will only be 1 hazard in each video clip except for 1 of the video clips, where 2 hazards will be displayed. The test measures how quickly you identify these hazards by clicking a button on the mouse. The faster you identify the hazard the higher you score, with a maximum score of 5 for each hazard. You will need to score a total of 57 out of 75 in order to pass the hazard perception test.
Develops your knowledge of the Highway Code, the principles of road safety, hazard perception, car handling techniques and dealing with other road users. The assessment takes the form of two theory tests - one multiple choice and one interactive hazard perception test.
